Sprunger Global Egypt Trip in Review

Sprunger Global is a faith-based entity premised on the belief that attorneys and adjacent professionals can participate in and through service based ministry trips using their professional aptitudes and abilities. Galatians 5:6 challenges all people to express their faith through loving others.  The question Sprunger Global asks is, “Can skilled legal professionals engage in and through their strengths to express faith in love?”

Participants in Sprunger Global’s service trips are equipped with skills and abilities that can be of great value to marginalized communities abroad.  Attorneys are problem solvers, they are researchers, they are passionate about defending the cause of the foreigner, and the fatherless, and the widow (Deuteronomy 26:12).  Pro bono work (free and/or reduced cost legal work) is required of Indiana attorneys, with many legal professionals serving the needs of local populations.  And while these local efforts are beautiful expressions of love, legal professionals can impact globally in the same ways that they are serving locally.

Founded in 2019, Sprunger Global is rooted in Cory and Allison Sprunger’s shared international experience during law school.  Having assisted efforts in India, and pursued legal education in London, they’ve always had an eye for using their gifts and abilities as lawyers to serve in an international capacity.  Sprunger Global’s first legal service trip was to Kyrgyzstan in 2022.  The connections made in Kyrgyzstan, and the transformative experiences Cory and Allison have had in their legal careers, have brought a continued and increased desire to pursue international pro bono trips for attorneys and legal professionals.  In January of 2025, Sprunger Global hired an executive director (a U.S. attorney living abroad), and through the prompting of that executive director, committed to a legal service trip to Egypt.

In November 2025, during the Thanksgiving holiday, attorneys and legal professionals with Sprunger Global made the journey to Egypt.  Prior to departure, the community of Northeast Indiana engaged in a sweater/sweatshirt drive to fill 10 suitcases with warm clothing for Sudanese refugees living in Egypt.  6 million Sudanese have fled Sudan for Egypt, over 1.5 million doing so as a result of the most recent civil war.  These refugees have very little clothing, and while Egypt isn’t as cold as Indiana, temps in the winter months can be in the upper 40s at night.  Cory and Allison’s two oldest children, Zoey (age 9) and Jack (age 7), engaged their classmates in sweatshirt donations.  Local church communities donated monies and suitcases to carry the clothing.  This was a community effort to provide for a community in need, albeit one over 6000 miles away.

Attorneys with Sprunger Global worked with a local legal organization in Cairo to provide research and drafting support challenging an alleged violation of human rights in the local penal code.  This research will support efforts to encourage the African Union to put pressure on the local legal system to provide relief.  Volunteer attorneys also connected with a group of 70 Egyptian attorneys to provide ethics training, with a special emphasis placed on workplace ministry and witness.

In addition to Sprunger Global’s legal work in Egypt, volunteers connected with a ministry providing direct assistance to Sudanese families.  Three volunteers were able to share testimonies of how their lives were impacted by faith.  Those gathered sang songs of faith in Arabic, expressed hope in Jesus, and filled volunteers with joy, even as volunteers ministered through testimony.  Volunteers, led by the Sprunger Family kids, connected with a Sudanese school in Cairo and were able to lead different craft and reading activities, in addition to championing a direct assistance food drive.

All in all, Sprunger Global’s legal service trip to Egypt incorporated both legal and non-legal service opportunities, all premised on the belief that faith expressed in love can be transformative, for the communities served, and for those who serve.  It was a joy to represent the legal profession, the Northeast Indiana community, and a shared faith in Jesus and His power to speak peace to the nations.  Sprunger Global looks forward to continuing to engage legal professionals, their families, and local communities, in serving the least of these, both locally and globally.
